It is a big week for tech companies with Microsoft, Amazon and Alphabet all reporting quarterly earnings on Thursday. Especially the latter will be interesting, says Saxo Bank’s Peter Garnry, as it will be the first time that the company formerly known as Google will separate the search and ad business from its other investments and projects, offering investors more insight and transparency.

According to Garnry, earnings in the tech sector are expected to decline this quarter hit by the general weakness in the global economy and the strong US dollar.  Garnry looks at what to expect from Alphabet and whether Microsoft will suffer the same fate as IBM, which was punished by investors after its quarterly sales missed estimates.
